INTRODUCING COLUMBUS, OHIO: ecoCITYsystem 1325
Project Profile: quasar has partnered with The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) and Kurtz Bros., Inc. to construct a 1MW anaerobic digestion renewable energy system in Columbus, Ohio. The system will process biosolids from the City of Columbus, regional food waste and FOG (fats, oil and grease) to generate renewable energy. Byproducts will be sold regionally by Kurtz Bros., Inc. The C1325 will feature patent-pending biogas upgrade equipment provided by Biogas Technologies Unlimited (BTU is a division of quasar).
Additional support for the project has been provided by the City of Columbus and the State of Ohio, Ohio Air Quality Development Authority.
STATUS: Groundbreaking May 3, 2010, the system is under construction.
