Ohio State University President Gordon Gee and Dr. Bobby Moser visited the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) Thursday to witness the beginning of two unique projects on the Wooster campus.
Gee and Moser toured quasar energy group’s biogas plant on the OARDC campus — a partnership with the university that seeks to spur the generation of green energy from biomass and new jobs in Ohio. The biodigester is due to be completed in mid-April.
Gee and Moser also participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for OARDC’s new Plant and Animal Agrosecurity Research (PAAR) Facility.

PAAR will be the only facility in Ohio and one of two nationally with capacity for both plant and animal infectious-disease research at the BSL-3 (biosafety level 3) and BSL-3 Ag safety levels. It will help OARDC scientists study and find ways to combat diseases of economic importance to agriculture, such as avian influenza and soybean rust.
The ABN's Gary Jackson covered the event and talked with both Gee and Moser about these projects.
