quasar energy group Awarded $2M Ohio Third Frontier Grant

Today, the Ohio Department of Development’s Third Frontier Advanced Energy Program announced award of a $2 million grant to quasar energy group (quasar) of Cleveland, Ohio.  The grant funding will contribute to accelerating the commercialization of patent-pending anaerobic digestion technology developed at The Ohio State University (OSU).  

iADs (integrated anaerobic digestion system) can cost-effectively recover energy from abundant sources of cellulosic biomass as well as other organic wastes.  Additional collaborators on the project include the Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center, Rockwell Automation, Seaman Corporation, seepex, and McCabe Engineering.   

“The Third Frontier award will allow quasar to expedite the development of a strong supplier chain of Ohio vendors to manufacture the digester components while reducing costs and retaining and creating jobs in the region,” comments Mel Kurtz, President of quasar.

The company plans to demonstrate iADs in Wooster, Ohio on the OSU – Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) campus where its flagship anaerobic digestion facility is currently under construction.
